How it works

Aging groups outstanding invoices by how long they have been overdue, measured from the due date rather than the invoice date. The buckets are conventionally thirty days wide, and the shape of the distribution says more than the total ever does.

A large 90-plus bucket is the warning. Collection probability falls sharply with age — debt that has been outstanding more than ninety days is materially less likely to be recovered in full, and the same list sorted by age tells you exactly which calls to make first.

Days overdue = as-of date − due date, bucketed into 0–30, 31–60, 61–90 and 90+

  • Current — not yet due
  • Bucket — a thirty-day band of overdue age
  • As-of date — the date the report is run from

Worked example

10 open invoices totalling 310,000, aged at 2026-08-02

90,000 sitting past ninety days — 29% of the ledger, and the portion least likely to be collected without escalation.

Frequently asked questions

What format should I paste?

Copy straight out of a spreadsheet, or paste CSV. A header row is optional — columns are identified by their headings when present and by their content when not. Dates, references and amounts are detected automatically, and amounts may carry currency symbols, thousands separators or accounting parentheses.

Should I age from the invoice date or the due date?

The due date, which is what this tool uses. Aging from the invoice date makes every invoice look overdue the moment it is raised and destroys the report’s usefulness as a prioritisation tool.

Does this work for payables as well as receivables?

Yes — the arithmetic is identical. Paste your open supplier invoices instead and the buckets show what you owe and how late you are, which is what a supplier is looking at when they call.

What should I do with the 90-plus bucket?

Escalate rather than continue routine chasing. Collection rates decline steeply with age, so anything past ninety days warrants a call from someone senior, a payment plan, or a decision about recovery action.

Is my ledger data uploaded anywhere?

No. Every line you paste is parsed and matched inside your browser. Nothing is transmitted to us, nothing is stored, and closing the tab discards it. That is the whole reason this tool exists in this form.
